leading role in the development of coal mining industry and
improvement of occupational safety in China.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety (NIOS) was
officially set up at CCII in 2004. Mr. Wang Xianzheng, Vice
Administrator of SAWS and Mr. Fan Weitang, Chairman of China
National Coal Association (CNCA), unveiled the
shingle of NIOS at inauguration ceremony. |

workshop on the project of UK DTI’s CCT Transfer to China,
hosted by CCII&NIOS. |

With support of
SAWS, CCII&NIOS completed the Study Project on Occupational
Safety via Economic & Social Development. Mr. Wang Xianzheng
and Mr. Wang Dexue, Vice Administrators of SAWS, and
academicians of the China Academy of Science and China
Academy of Engineering attended the study project workshop,
and Huang Shengchu, President of CCII&NIOS, gave the
presentation on the findings and summary of the study. |

Mr. Wang Xianzheng,
Vice Administrator of SAWS, meeted with officials of the Asian
Development Bank and the USEPA , and discussed CBM development in
China. Mr. Huang Shengchu, President of CCll & NIOS, joined the
meeting. The specialists of the CCII&NIOS have been engaged by the
ADB in the project Technical Assistance for the Liaoning
Environmental Improvement Project with total investment of US$250
million including three components:

The Methane-to-Markets
Partnership Ministerial Meeting was held in Washington, DC, USA in
November 2004. Huang Shengchu participated in the meeting and was
elected as the Vice Chairman of Coal ubcommittee at the meeting.The
Chinese governmental delegation, led by Mr. Yang
Jiechi, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chinese ambassador to
the United States, attended the meeting. |
