International Cooperation in Energy and Environment

Wang Xianzheng,Vice Governor of Shanxi Province,meets with Mr.Edu Hassing,senior official of the Asian Development Bank and Mr.Karl Schultz,CBM team leader of the USEPA in Taiyuan in November 2001,and discuss CBM development in this province.Huang Shengchu,vice president of CCII participates in the meeting.

The specialists of the E&S Division are engaged by the ADB in the Project Preparation Technical Assistance for the Liaoning Environmental Improvement Project with total investment of US$250 million including three components:

  • Urban central heating system
  • Urban gas distribution system
  • CBM production and environment

Delegates of CCII visit the World Bank in Washington DC in October 2002 for the study project Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Coal Industry in China.

Prof.Hu Yuhong is engaged as a Chief Technical Advisor for the project Inprovement of Coal Mine Safety in China with grants of the US Department of Labor

Experts of the E&S Division participate in the IPCC Experts Meeting on Green-house Gas inventories in April 1999,Prague,Czech.

As specialist engaged in preparation for the UNDP project "Building Capability for CDM in China".Ms Hu Yuhong presents her key-note report on development of CBM projects with CDM funds in China.

As specialist engaged by the ADB, Huang Shengchu, vice president of CCII, is working together with specialists from the USA and Australia on the ADB’s projects-Feasibility Study on CBM Development at Yangquan and Jinsheng of Shanxi Province and Liaoning Province

Specialists of CBMC are working on the study project "Economic Evaluation for Commercialized Coalbed Methane Development",a project included in the National R&D Program for the tenth Five-Year-Plan.

Promoting the Development of Clean Coal Technology

The CCII delegates including Mr.Dou Qingfeng,Mr.Huang Shenchu and Ms.Hu Yuhong pay their first visit to the UK's DTI and ETSU in May 1997,developing the cooperation in clean coal technology between China and the UK.

Chinese delegation of the Shenhuo Coal and Power Co.Ltd,led by Mr.Huang Shenchu and Ms.Hu Yuhong,visit the Ratcliffeon-soar power station of the PowerGen plc in Nottingham.

The CCII welcome the UK DTI's deletagion led by Dr Alan Heyes,Deputy Director of the Sustainable Energy Policy Unit and Mr.Buckley,Trade Promoter and discuss potential opportunities for the UK clean coal technology transfer to China in November 2000.

CCII's President Mr.Dou Qingfeng visits the Appin &Tower Coal Mines of the BHP and discusses possible application of Australian technology in China.

First Vice President Mr.Yang Jiangyou and his colleagues meet with Analyst of the ABARE,Australia,and discuss the study project on China coal industry and market.

Discussing potential cooperation in mining technology with research fellows of CSIRO,Australia

Discussing extention of the EU-funded project with officials of the Planning Commission of Liaoning Province and the consultants from the UK.
