A Method for Computation of Gas Production from CBM Vertical Fracturing and Horizontal Wells
Lu Changsheng
(Greka Energy Co., Beijing 100873)

Abstract: The paper introduces a method for calculating gas production from a vertical fracturing well or a horizontal well by setting up a hydraulic model. A formula for calculating gas production and other parameters is deduced from the model for quantitative computation by introduction of some concrete strata parameters, fluid characteristics, and adsorption characteristic data of coal seam.

(Resources and Earth Science College of China University of Mining £¦ Technology, Xuzhou 221008)

Abstract£ºA methodology system suitable for evaluation of the characteristics of CBM resources and their potentials in coal mine areas was established based on investigation of 22 key mine areas in a new round of national oil and gas evaluation. The distribution characteristics of CBM resources of the relevant mine areas and active mines were basically make clear. The present status and prospect for development and utilization of CBM were studied. Recommendations on selection of CBM development modes for different mine areas were preliminarily proposed. The paper described some research results in CBM resources in related mine areas, potentials for development and recommendations on development. Based on it, some key theoretical problems met in the practice of evaluation were also discussed.

Discussion on Use of CMM to Produce Hydrogen
Tao Pengwan and Gu Gongwei
(Southwest Research & Design Institute of Chemical Industry, Sichuan 610225)

Abstract£ºThe paper introduces the relevant technologies for producing hydrogen from the drained underground CMM with a methane concentration from 30% to 60%. It describes the influences of all the parameters on technological conditions of auto-thermal reforming in hydrogen production. Hydrogen production from CMM provides a new approach for utilization of CMM.

Practice of Gas Control in Drivage of Roadways in Mine Construction
Li Rendong 1,2
(1. Resources College, China University of Mining, Jiansu,Xuzhou 221008£¬
2. Yankuang Guizhou Nenghua Co. Ltd. Guiyang, Guizhou 550003)

Abstract: Qinglong coal mine has a number of workable coal seams containing high concentration of gas. Gas emission in the roadway drivage always exceeds the limit. As a result of repeated experiments and research, pre-drainage was adopted by drilling boreholes from drilling sites on both sides of the roadway. The problem with excessive gas emission in the roadway drivage was solved, which accelerated the speed of roadway drivage.

(Guiyang Branch of Prospecting and Research Institute of Sinopec Southwestern Branch Company, Guiyang, Guizhou 550004)

Abstract: Based on an overall investigation of a great quantity of CBM information obtained in the research and exploration in the first phase in eastern Yunnan and western Guizhou, and on large amount of CBM information obtained in exploration, research and development at home and abroad, we have achieved a lot of important results in all aspect of work, especially we have obtained new knowledge on CBM reservoir mechanism and output mechanism, which has provided plenty of data for the research of CBM in eastern Yunnan and western Guizhou. However, we also found many important problems in the preparation period, for example, testing and remoulding of reservoir. We need to attach more importance to these problems and find out solutions to these problems.

(Beijing Energy Resources College of China University of Geosciences, Beijing, 100083)

Abstract: The research of stable isotope plays an important role in the study of conventional natural gas. The paper studies the current state of research work in the following aspects: the controlling and influencing factors of methane carbon isotope, geochemistry and the genetic type of coalbed methane isotope, cause of low ¦Ä13C value of the coalbed methane, etc. It is considered that in the future research efforts should concentrate on effects of adsorption¨Cdesorption characteristcs of coalbed on carbon isotope fractionation based on the features of coal reservoir.

Abstract: The paper discusses the research related to separation and purification of low concentration gas by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) method. The effects of switching time and resistance of reverse purging on separation were studied on a twin-tower PSA unit. The results indicated that PSA method could achieve separation and purification of low concentration gas and reverse purging process could increase the quantity of gas and ensure the separation effect as well.
