Brief Introduction to CBM Exploration Projects Management Department

    The CBM Exploration Projects Management Department is entrusted by
 New Area Exploration Department of  China National Petroleum Corp. to
 manage CBM projects, it was established in August, 1994. The Departme
nt is responsible for exploration and research coalbed methane in new 
areas belonging to China National Petroleum Corp.
    The department establishes research teams with different specialti
es in Zhongyuan, Dagang and Huabei oil fields as well as Langfang Bran
ch of Petroleum Exploration and Development Research Institute, as sup
porting units of  the department, and undertaking some long-term R&D p
rojects by contract method. In addition, according to the actual requi
rement, bidding method is used to organize some individual research an
d construction projects. 
    The department has carried out more than 30 projects, including in
vestigation of  foreign coalbed methane information, distribution regu
larity of coalbed methane in China, resources evaluation, target area 
evaluation, types of gas reservoir, history simulation of gas producti
on in a reservoir, drilling and well completion and economic evaluatio
n etc., and has done experiments in drilling, well testing and trial g
as production,obtaining many research results. 
    The department has a god technology exchange and cooperation with 
some foreign CBM exploration companies. 
    The department sincerely welcome counterparts from home and aboard
 to come to cooperate and exchange technology with them, jointly makin
g breakthrough in coalbed methane exploration in China.
