International Cooperation Projects ofNorth China Bureau of Petroleum Geology

    The North China Bureau of Petroleum Geology has been making rapid 
progress in recent years in foreign cooperation of  coalbed methane ex
ploration and development, the exploration funds input and to be input
 by foreign parties has amounted to 20 million US dollars. The Bureau 
has been actively involved in the relevant work, gaining confidence an
d reward from cooperation parties. 
    Under the instruction and coordination of  relevant departments of
 Central government, the UNDP project-Deep Coalbed Methane Exploration
, was executed by the Bureau, and started in 1993. The project has a e
xploration fee of 1ª±3 million US dollars, 8 wells have been drilled a
nd a demonstration area for coalbed methane exploration and developmen
t has been constructed. The whole work of the project is getting well,
 most expected results have been achieved.
    Meanwhile, with the further opening of State policies and deepenin
g of our work, three foreign companies have been attracted to cooperat
e with the Bureau to conduct coalbed methane exploration and developme
nt, including lowell from Australia, Enron Corp. and Amoco Corp. from 
the US, they have drilled 7 wells. In addition, other foreign companie
s also have intent of cooperation with the Bureau to explore and devel
op coalbed methane, they are negotiating for specific project. Followi
ngs are some foreign cooperation projects of the Bureau.
